My Dream

I’ve been skating for several years. I’ve also done a lot of traveling in that time. Every town I visited I would find the skate shop there. Skate-boarders have the most creative art. Most of it is subtle humor poking fun at police and government, but in a friendly way. Skateshops were a Mecca for people of different cultures drawn together because of similar ideas and interests.

Many people think of skating as an art itself, instead of a sport. Schools and family were always cramming organized sports down my throat. But there are things like skating that non-conformists can find interest in.

The biggest influence for me to open a skate shop though actually started only a couple years ago. My nephew who just turned eleven, begged me to sell him one of my old boards. I just gave him one. He picked it up with a passion. He would skate in the morning before school, then in the afternoon right after he got off the bus with his backpack still on. For his birthday all he wanted me to do was build him ramps. I started putting my store together a few months ago. Now it has become a personal challenge for me.

I want my career to be something I love. I want to wake up in the morning and be happy to go to my job. With God’s continuing grace and my good friends support hopefully this dream will last.
